In 3 months, we built a 3-year plan to transform the way technology supports the management of young people at Kurlana Tapa. KT is a secure environment for young people in custody, managed by the Department of Human Services.

Business Problems
  • Administrative burden: Instead of making life easier, Digital systems were increasing the effort required by frontline staff to collaborate and capture information
  • Increased demand: More young people were presenting to Kurlana Tapa than ever, putting strain on resources and amplifying inefficiencies
  • Data transparency: Critical data was trapped in disconnected legacy systems, spreadsheets, and paper files – hampering staff productivity and data sharing with oversight bodies.
